NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY’S Department of Sociology invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible, teaching-track faculty appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Instruction, beginning September 1, 2018. Duties include teaching six quarter-long undergraduate courses per academic year, at least three of which will also serve the Kapnick Business Institutions Program in Weinberg College (

We welcome applications from stellar teachers, especially those with proven ability to teach a range of lower- and upper-division courses. While there is some flexibility on subject matter, we have a strong interest in applicants who can teach introduction to sociology, social stratification, education, immigration, and the sociology of organizations. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Sociology, which must be conferred by September 1, 2018.

Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated experience working with diverse student communities.
