Joint Position

Associate/Assistant Professor

The Department of Sociology and the Department of Black Studies invite applications and nominations for a joint tenured/tenure-track position at the level of Associate/Assistant Professor, effective August 2017. The successful candidate’s tenure home will be the Department of Sociology.

We are seeking a scholar whose primary research and teaching interests relate to the study of people of African descent in the United States, Africa, and the African Diaspora. Other areas are open.

The successful candidate must have completed the Ph.D. by the time of appointment, maintain a productive research and publication program, and be expected to teach courses in his or her field within Sociology and Black Studies. Applications from underrepresented minority candidates are especially welcome. Review of applications will begin December 2, 2016 and continue until the position is filled.
