Rhode Island College Assistant Professor, Sociology Full-time, tenure-track position Anticipated Vacancy Fall 2017 The Department of Sociology at Rhode Island College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Sociology at the rank of Assistant Professor. Area of specialization is open, but the individual must be able to teach quantitative research methods. This position has a contractual 3-3 teaching load with a maximum of 90 students per semester. Final appointment is subject to available funding Established in 1854, Rhode Island College is a comprehensive mid-size institution of approximately 9000 students. We are a teaching college, which values research. The 180-acre campus is located in beautiful, historic Providence, Rhode Island's capital, with proximity to the academic and cultural resources of Boston and New York City. Required qualifications include: Ph.D. in Sociology; ability to teach courses as part of the Sociology and Justice Studies programs administered by the Department of Sociology. The Doctoral degree is required for appointment and must be completed prior to the beginning of service. Preferred qualifications include: Ability to teach courses in introductory criminology and/or law and society; ability to contribute to curricular development in a proposed M.A. program in Justice Studies.
