Assistant Professor of Organizational Sociology

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is hiring an Assistant Professor of Organizational Sociology. The candidate will have a primary focus in organizations with secondary areas in leadership and theory. Further teaching would include course in organizations, theory and leadership, and may include research methods and statistics. The Assistant Professor will teach three courses per semester in an undergraduate and graduate sociology program, mentor students, and contribute to interdisciplinary programs as appropriate. The department expects faculty to remain actively engaged in research and professional development around teaching, as well as provide service to the university and community. Additionally, candidates with quantitative methods skill are preferred.

Applicants must hold a PhD in sociology or a closely related field at time of employment beginning August 2018. Persons who have not completed all degree requirements (ABD) by the beginning of the contract period may be considered for a one-year term interim appointment at the rank of Instructor.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is hiring an Assistant Professor of Applied Sociology. The candidate will have a primary specialization in applied sociology with secondary areas in diversity and social justice, gender and/or immigration. Further teaching would include courses in work and applied sociology both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Assistant Professor will teach three courses per semester in an undergraduate and graduate sociology program, mentor students, and contribute to interdisciplinary programs as appropriate. The department expects faculty to remain actively engaged in research and professional development around teaching, as well as provide service to the university and community. Ideal candidates will have some experience with working in applied settings and be able to develop the department’s internship program. Additionally, candidates with quantitative methods skill are preferred.
