Assistant Professor of Instruction, Sociology (non-tenure track), Ohio University

OHIO UNIVERSITY’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction of Sociology specializing in social inequality, criminology, law, and/or justice, beginning in Fall 2025-2026.

This Assistant Professor of Instruction position is a full-time, nine-month, benefitted position, and is renewable dependent on department need and demonstrated success. Non-tenure-track faculty teach an eight-course teaching load per year, with a one-course teaching reduction available in exchange for student advising.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses across the curriculum such as Social Inequality and Change, Social Justice, and Access to Justice. They will have the opportunity to teach or develop other courses related to curricular needs and candidate expertise, including upper level and graduate courses.

We are especially interested in candidates able to offer experiential learning, including community engagement.

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service to our students. College of Arts & Sciences
This college is central to Ohio University’s transformative learning experience. The foundational instruction for the entire university, delivered through the general education and liberal arts curriculum, is provided by the College of Arts and Sciences. Minimum qualifications:

The successful candidate must be ABD in Sociology, Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related field by the start date of the position, with a PhD by the end of the spring semester.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Sociology, Criminology, Criminal Justice.
