SUNY Plattsburgh is seeking applicants for a SUNY Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG+) Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Criminal Justice.

PRODiG+ is designed with two primary goals: (1) increasing the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) strengthening the pipeline for retention and support of those faculty. This Fellowship is for a 12-month appointment for two years. The fellow will have a unique opportunity to collaborate with other faculty members and receive enhanced support and mentorship. The fellowship is expected to transition into a tenure-track position (10-month obligation) after two years, provided the fellow achieves performance milestones during the fellowship.

Additional SUNY Plattsburgh support for the PRODiG+ Fellow includes: a reduced teaching load for two years (e.g., two courses per semester instead of three); monthly mentoring with a tenured faculty mentor during the two-year Fellowship; new faculty orientation and onboarding workshops; resources related to the academic performance review process, faculty benefits, and other monthly presentations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to be a generalist that can teach multiple core courses in the program, which include “Introduction to Criminal Justice”, “Criminology”, “Research Methods in Criminal Justice”, the core areas of corrections, policing, and courts, and/or the “Advanced Writing and Research Seminar” (in rotation with other members of the department). The successful candidate will be expected to sponsor individual student internships as well as engage in campus and department service, including student advising. The Criminal Justice Department emphasizes a liberal arts approach to learning, which helps our students to become acquainted with diverse fields such as political science, psychology and sociology.
