Sociology Tenure Track Position – Fall 2025, Sarah Lawrence College

Sarah Lawrence College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position with a start date of fall 2025. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests are in Medical Sociology and its intersections with Public Sociology. We are especially interested in applicants who specialize in any two or more of the following areas: Public Health and Health Advocacy; Health Equity and Racial Justice; Sociology of the Body and Disability Studies; Policing and the Law; and Science, Technology, and Society. The candidate’s primary focus should be on the U.S., with an ability to connect to related issues globally.

While this position will be located within Sociology, we encourage applications from individuals with interdisciplinary backgrounds that not only encompass but also extend beyond Sociology. We also welcome candidates with practical experience relevant to the position to apply.

Applications should include the following: Cover letter, curriculum vitae; statement of teaching philosophy; 2 sample undergraduate syllabi relevant to the position; a sample of scholarly work; and three letters of reference.

Compensation listed for this position is for a full-time tenure-track faculty position and will be contingent on teaching experience.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Sociology or an interdisciplinary program that has strong intersections with the discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Salary: $70,000 to $85,000
